This is a 90 minute KS4 lesson about the Hillsborough Disaster focusing on the issue of social action. This lesson should be shown alongside the story of Anne Williams and the ITV documentary, Anne Williams: Unfinished Business (not the dramatised four part one). It covers: What happened at Hillsborough The lies that were told The processes of the inquests The details of the event Justice for the 97 court verdict The refusal to buy The Sun newspaper The Hillsborough Law It is fully narrated but the icon on each slide can easily be deleted if you would prefer no narration. There are written or discussion activities which focus on social action and justice including do it now tasks and a review activity. The documentary is downloaded and clipped so you do not have to wait for the adverts and it will never disappear! This is suitable for KS4 and KS5 (Years 10-13, Ages 15-18) as the video does include limited swearing and an image of Kevin Williams on the pitch. This is a 15 minute assembly about bipolar disorder which is suitable for tutor time, PSHE or a short whole school session to explore bipolar disorder. It explains what bipolar is, what the symptoms are and how to get support if needed. There are some video clips (downloaded so they will never disappear) and discussion activities but no written tasks. It is suitable for ages 11-18 (KS3, KS4 & KS5, Years 7-13, Grades 6-12) to give an overview of this mental heath illness for students. It was originally used as a KS3 PSHE session in tutor time and students enjoyed learning about this important issue. It ends with a quick true or false quiz and has a slide of charities/helplines to support them if they need it. Students reacted very well to this session. This is a 15 minute assembly on Sexism and Gender Inequality. It was originally a tutor time PSHE session for Year 10 but is suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Ages 11-18, Years 7-13. It covers what sexism is and whether it is still an issue in the UK. It includes three short downloaded video clips that will never disappear! It covers sexism in the workplace, what feminism is and some statistics about sexism in the UK. It has discussion activities and no written tasks. It could easily be lengthened to a whole lesson with longer debates and written activities. This fits into the new RSHE curriculum, the PSHE curriculum and works towards addressing sexual harassment and inequality in society.

This is a 15-20 minute assembly on homophobia. It lasts 15-20 minutes and includes discussion questions and a downloaded video that will never disappear. It gives students sources of support and guides them through the legal implications of hate crime, particularly homophobia and transphobia. This was delivered to Year 7 in a tutor time PSHE session but is suitable for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Years 7-13, Ages 11-18, Grades 6-12) and could be used as an assembly instead. There are no written tasks in this PowerPoint. This fits into the new RSE and Health Curriculum and is a useful whole school tutor time session to approach the issue of homophobia in schools.

This is a 15 minute assembly or PSHE resource which can be used for KS3, KS4 and KS5 (Years 7-13, Ages 11-18). It is centred around the use of nitrous oxide or laughing gas. It teaches pupils about the physical and mental effects of the social drug and the dangers of taking it. It includes two short clips (downloaded so they never disappear) about the dangers of taking nitrous oxide, a few newspaper quotes and then it finishes with a true or false quiz as a plenary. Students from all year groups responded well to this session which can be shortened or lengthened if needed.

This is a 15 minute presentation which was originally a KS3 and KS4 PSHE session for tutor time. It could be used as an assembly or a standalone quick look at how to care for the elderly in the community. It contains two youtube clips downloaded so they will never disappear, some information and a class discussion question that pupils can think about for a plenary. It also includes a small section on child carers and the intergenerational care home idea from the news. It focuses on why we should help the elderly and can contribute to the new RSE and Health Curriculum as well as the existing PSHE and Citizenship, SMSC, Fundamental British Values and Values education.

This is a selection of 25 lateral thinking tasks for discussion, debate, tutor time, PSHE or lessons. Students have really improved their discussion and lateral thinking skills as a result of these activities. They can be used to improve communication, debating, listening and thinking skills as part of the PSHE or Skills curriculum or part of a tutor time activity or assembly.

This is a 500 word Intent statement for the new RSE & Health Curriculum but can also be used for a more general PSHE and Citizenship statement. This is a 10-15 minute assembly focusing on International Women’s Day. It includes discussion questions, some important definitions and has two downloaded videos that will never disappear. It allows students to understand why IWD is so important and introduces some of the issues that women face in today’s society as well as over history. This is suitable for Upper KS2-KS5 (Ages 10-18, Years 5-13) and can be used as an assembly or tutor time resource. It was originally a Year 7 tutor time PSHE session but is suitable for a wider audience.

This is a 15 minute assembly about veganism. It includes definitions, discussion activities and information about the advantages of a vegan diet on the environment and our lives. It has a downloaded video which will never disappear and ends with a thinking task for pupils. It is suitable for KS4-KS5 (Ages 14-18, Years 10-13) and can be easily lengthened to be suitable for a whole lesson if needed. This fits into the new RSHE curriculum and the PSHE curriculum and was originally a tutor time PSHE session for Year 11.

This is a 15 minute PSHE resource, assembly or tutor time session for KS3-KS5. It was originally a Year 9 PSHE tutor time session but is suitable for Years 7-13, Ages 11-18. It covers what the Equality Act, how it is put into action, some examples and two short downloaded video clips so they will never disappear! There is also an interactive quiz at the end as a plenary.

This 15-20 minute presentation outlines some basic first aid for KS3, KS4 and KS5 students. It was originally used as a PSHE tutor time session. It is based on the BBC First Aid videos which only work in the UK and includes discussion questions and no written tasks. This follows the Basic First Aid part of the new RSE & Health Curriculum and teaches students how to complete CPR, deal with bleeding and shock and bone fractures.This could also be used as a whole school assembly to improve their health knowledge and PSHE provision. Students reacted very well to this session.
